Odd network behavior (V 10.1d both machines) One sends hilighted font, other does not
Mon Nov 06, 2023 5:45 pm
We have two networked PCs at home, using ethernet on 192.168.xxx.xxx. The network assigns a permanent IP to each machine (no DNS).The upstairs one sends a stickie to the main floor all is normal in that note.
When the main floor PC sends any to the upstairs one, the font appears highlighted. Not the entire stickie but if there are three lines of text (for example) the lines containing letters are all highlighted.
I've stared at the settings and the two are identical. Thanks.
Machine 2 sends to machine 1
Machine 1 receives

" Odd " i think is an understatement ..... So a line containing numbers is not highlighted ?
Is it also if you send on the main PC a sticky to 127.0.0.1 ? Here sticky sees it as coming from the local PC and there are some differences .

Both machines received their sticky clear, no highlighting, to the loopback address. Another containing text, a number line and a line of symbols just arrived all text numbers & symbols arrived with highlighting, machine to machine. Next three text stickies arrived still highlighted, machine to machine.

You can contact Tom Revell about this problem :

Best to put " stickies forum post " in the email title .
Now i am a bit confused with the highlight , is it a permanent color highlight or just a selection highlight like a Ctrl a would produce ? ( because you mentioned " the font appears highlighted " from the image it is difficult to make it out .

It is exactly like a CTRL-A. The highlight is the same every time. Funny since I have Color 1 (yellow) as highlight.

My thought is that it's something to do with different versions of the Rich Edit control, and so different capabilties. Try saving a note as a .sti file to a pen drive, take it to the other machine, and open it there.
Or ... create a note the same way on each machine and save it as .rtf. Are the files the same (RTF files are just text and can be loaded in notepad if you didn't know that).
