Avast thinks Stickies update 10.0b contains "IDP.ARES.Generic". Is this a false positive?

It is a false positive ... but of all the people you should take advice from as to whether software contains malicious code, the author is the last person to trust!

The fact that it's "found" something with generic in the name should help reassure you - it's not found anything specific which it knows about, it just doesn't recognise the code, or thinks it might be nasty based on guesswork.
